Le radici

Craft Company involved in woodworking, founded in the'60s by Guido Barzoni, father of current holders.

The eight brothers Barzoni work in the company, eight different capacity of intend and proposition merged together in a harmonious agreement, for the common good of the company’s strategy, in a spirit of enterprise.

Primo, Antonio, Lorenzo, Maurizio, provided their initial letter to create in 1985 the name PALM.

From the beginning Palm‘s strategy - in the competitive market of pallets and wood packaging - focused into an innovative approach to the design and to the implementation phase. This approach can be summarized with the eco-design and eco-planning’s concepts, so as to save costs and protect the environment. In other words, everything is planned to optimize weight and volume of the packaging, reduce the use of the raw materials and, consequently, reduce the transported packaging.

Always careful with the environmental impact of its own manufacture activity, Palm uses mainly raw materials - wood of fir and pine – coming from northern Europe Countries, long engaged in managing forests according to the eco-sustainable criteria of the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and of the PEFC (Program for Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes). Recently, several national forests’ owners are changing the management of their forests according to the principles of the FSC and of the PEFC allowing, in this way, Palm to increase the use of national wood.

From here the project "Pallet at km 0" that has led the company  to be the leader of locally planted poplars, in order to promote the development of the agriculture and also reduce the environmental impact due to the wood’s transport over long distances.

Palm Company, always focused in the ecosystem’s protection, supports the system “Rilegno” that coordinates and promotes the collection, the recovery and the recycling of the wood packaging’s waste, which is subtracted from an improper disposal (landfill). It is than reintegrated into the cycle of the production, contributing, for example, to the formation of compost, chipboard panels, cellulose and thermal energy.

Finally, in accordance with the D. Lgs. Ronchi 22/1997 (and art. 6 Treaty of Amsterdam), Palm Company also provides a service for recovering and repairing the costumers’ damaged pallets.
